If you’re one of the millions of WordPress users out there, you probably already know that search engine optimization (SEO) is a critical part of attracting visitors to your website. Visitors convert to customers, and that converts to profit for your business.
There are many popular SEO plugins for WordPress. You may have heard of, or already been using, Yoast, Schema Pro, All In One SEO for WordPress (AIOSEO), or another comparable platform. But have you heard of Rank Math?
Rank Math is the new kid on the block when it comes to SEO plugins, and it blows a lot of the competition out of the water. In this Rank Math review, I'll take a look at Rank Math's pros, cons, features, pricing, and more. I'll also show how it measures up to Yoast, one of the biggest fish in the SEO plugin pond, and wrap up with straightforward answers to some common FAQs.
I'm a huge fan of Rank Math and have migrated all of my websites to it. So, while I won't shy away from giving criticism where criticism is due, I'll also give fair warning that this promises to be a pretty rosy review. I comfortably stand by my 5/5 rating for Rank Math.
No complaints here. With more features than other comparable SEO plugins (including Yoast), Rank Math's free version is nothing to laugh at. For casual users, it may actually be more than sufficient for all your SEO needs!
If you’re looking to take your SEO game to the next level, both the Pro and Business plans provide excellent value for what they offer. I particularly appreciate that the Pro Plan ($59 per year) allows you to use Rank Math on unlimited personal websites, while the Business Plan ($199 per year) allows you to use it on individual as well as on client websites.
Once again, I don't have anything bad to say. Installing Rank Math is a straightforward process, very similar to installing any other plugin. The Setup Wizard provides excellent step-by-step instructions and can be tailored to your level of SEO knowledge with an Easy, Advanced, or Custom mode. The Rank Math dashboard is clean and modern, providing an intuitive experience—even for beginners.
We'll get into Rank Math's features in more depth in a minute, but for now, let's just say that its scope and range are impressive and compare favorably with the competition. Definitely 5/5 material in my books.
While some reviewers have criticized Rank Math's ticketing system for support, I have actually found it to be just fine. It's not that it wouldn't be nice to have phone or chat support as well, but the 24/7 ticketing system is prompt and effective. Plus, Rank Math provides a comprehensive help database as well as a support forum where you can browse through previous tickets to find answers.
Rank Math is a WordPress Plugin that’s designed to help you optimize your website for search engines. Promoted by its team of developers as the "Swiss Army Knife of WordPress SEO", it functions as a jack of all trades in the SEO plugin niche. Over 80,000 active users are currently enjoying the wealth of options and features included in Rank Math, many of which would require additional plugin installations on other SEO plugins. It has a pretty outstanding free version which you can upgrade for yearly fees.
My pros list is longer than my cons list, which is a reflection of how impressed I am with the Rank Math plugin overall.
Rank Math is chock-full of features, and I am not even going to try to review them all. In this section, I'll provide an overview of Rank Math's core features, and you can take my word that it's worth exploring the rest on your own time.
Rank Math's bread and butter features are straightforward and comprehensive. Whether you're an experienced SEO wizard or a complete novice, you'll appreciate how simple it is to click the orange button on new posts/pages and immediately receive an SEO score as well as suggestions on how to optimize further.
What else do I love? Well, snippets are easy to manage and optimize (titles, meta descriptions, URLs, etc.), focus keywords are simple to set, and as you work, you can track your SEO progress on a checklist to make sure you haven't missed anything.
By creating a free account, even non-paying Rank Math users can access their Google Search Console and analytics without ever leaving their website. I find this integration feature to be extremely convenient and really appreciate not having to toggle back and forth to keep an eye on all of my relevant SEO analytics.
Wondering how your keywords are doing? Rank Math has got you covered. The Rank Tracker dashboard allows you to view your keyword rankings in a simple format that displays the number of clicks each keyword is receiving as well as its ranking position.
This feature is a huge timesaver if you post a lot of images and/or videos. Rank Math automatically optimizes them for search engines and provides a helpful video sitemap that allows you to easily track all of your video content in one place.
Everyone! Because of its amazing features and robust free version, I think Rank Math is a suitable option for beginners and SEO pros alike. You can opt for different modes (easy, advanced, or custom) depending on your experience level and the way you want the plugin to serve your needs. I'd say anyone looking to optimize their WordPress website could benefit from migrating to Rank Math. I know I did!
Rank Math pricing is pretty straightforward. As I've already mentioned, the free version is strong on its own. I'd recommend starting there and then upgrading to the Pro or Business plan depending on your needs.
As I mentioned earlier, the Rank Math dashboard is clean, modern, and intuitive. You can select the Easy, Advanced, or Custom mode—or you can toggle between the modes as it suits your needs.
Easy mode makes more automatic choices for you and provides less information, while Advanced mode shows you more settings and recommendations. In Custom mode you pretty much choose your own adventure; it's best for users with quite a bit of SEO knowledge and experience.
Don't get me wrong, Yoast is a very decent SEO plugin. I just happen to prefer Rank Math. I think Rank Math is faster, easier, and more intuitive than Yoast SEO. I'd also like to point out that Yoast's SEO code is almost 1.5x larger than Rank Math's and therefore adds more bulk to your website. Click here to see a direct comparison of Rank Math VS Yoast.
Without redirects, you can lose a significant amount of organic traffic. Plus, the Google algorithm doesn’t look favorably on broken links. I really appreciate that this feature is automatically included from the get-go in Rank Math.
Schema is the most recognized form of structured data, and Rank Math supports it out of the box. Say goodbye to clunky additional plugins.
Migrating to Rank Math is a breeze, relatively speaking. In a pinch, you could probably migrate a website to the Rank Math plugin in less than half an hour.
Rank Math's rank tracker is streamlined, accessible, and provides super clear analytics. I prefer it to Yoast's rank tracking system.
If you were on the fence about trying Rank Math, I've hopefully convinced you that it's at least worth a shot.
In my opinion, it's currently the best SEO plugin out there. With more features and options than the competition, I'd say it's an impressive option.
Yes! It has a very robust free version. If you require additional features and options, you can subscribe to its Pro or Business plans.
Yes. While no plugin or platform can do all the work for you, Rank Math's suite of features is user-friendly and provides you with all the tools you need to get your site's rankings where you want them to be.
